Direct answer

Why do some subscriptions not appear in iPhone Settings?

The iPhone Subscriptions screen shows subscriptions billed by Apple or purchased through the App Store. A subscription bought directly from a company may be billed and managed by that merchant instead. Check the receipt and billing descriptor to identify the owner before trying to change the plan.

The download source and billing source are not the same thing

Installing an app from the App Store doesn't prove that Apple manages its subscription. A company can provide an iPhone app while selling access on its own website. The purchase path and receipt tell you who owns the billing relationship.

Apple says that a missing Apple receipt may mean you bought the subscription from another company. In that case, contact the company that bills you. The receipt settles where the subscription should be managed.

Apple-managed and merchant-managed subscriptions compared

Use the billing owner as the organizing field. It prevents a common failure: searching Apple settings for a web purchase or searching a merchant account for a plan billed under a different Apple Account.

Use a short identification sequence

When a subscription is hard to find, avoid clicking through unrelated accounts. Work from evidence in a fixed order and stop when the billing owner is clear.

  1. Open iPhone Settings, tap your name, and review Subscriptions.
  2. Check App Store Purchase History and search for the amount or app name.
  3. Search email for an Apple receipt or the merchant's receipt.
  4. Check which Apple Account or merchant account appears on that receipt.
  5. Use that platform's management page to make the change.

Record the handoff with the renewal

Save the action with the date. Label an item “Apple settings” or keep the merchant's management URL with the renewal. When the decision window opens, you won't have to rediscover who owns the billing relationship.

Foremark can hand off to Apple subscription settings or a merchant management page, but it does not make the change. It is a prelaunch iPhone product and is not currently available for download.

Questions, answered

Why is an app subscription missing from Apple Subscriptions?

It may have been purchased directly from the merchant, under another Apple Account, or through another provider. The receipt identifies the billing owner and the account to use.

Can Apple cancel a subscription billed by a merchant?

Apple directs customers to the company that bills the subscription when there is no Apple receipt. Use the merchant's account or support process for that plan.
