What should you look for in an iPhone subscription tracker?

Choose a tracker whose discovery model, data access, and maintenance burden match your actual problem. Verify that it records renewal dates and currencies clearly, explains how alerts work, identifies where changes happen, publishes understandable privacy terms, and is honest about pricing, platform support, and current availability.

Begin with the problem, not the feature count

Some people need automatic discovery of forgotten transactions. Others already know their subscriptions and need a private decision window before trials and annual plans renew. Those are different jobs, and the most appropriate tracker for one may be frustrating for the other.

Write down the failure you want to prevent: an unseen free-trial conversion, an annual renewal with no review, scattered Apple and web plans, or recurring charges hidden across accounts. Then evaluate products against that failure.

Use seven concrete evaluation questions

Before you install or pay, you should be able to answer each question below. If a product stays vague about discovery, cancellation, or privacy, count that uncertainty in the decision.

  1. How do subscriptions enter the tracker: manual entry, screenshot, receipt, or bank connection?
  2. Where are records processed and stored?
  3. Does the tracker show the confirmed renewal date, price, currency, cadence, and trial status?
  4. Who chooses the alert timing, and what happens if an alert is not delivered?
  5. Does the tracker cancel plans, or does it hand off to Apple or the merchant?
  6. What is the complete price: free tier, subscription, lifetime purchase, or another model?
  7. Is the product available on your platform today?

Treat automatic discovery as a tradeoff, not a default requirement

Bank or transaction access can save time and reveal forgotten recurring charges. It can also introduce a broader data relationship and still may not know the contractual renewal date or where a plan is managed. Manual entry requires more work but can begin before the first charge and include context a transaction lacks.

Ask whether the tool explains what it connects to, what it stores, and how access is removed. If you prefer no bank connection, confirm that the product does not quietly depend on email scanning or another account integration instead.

Look for evidence and correction paths

A date can look settled and still be wrong. Look for a tracker that shows where information came from, leaves uncertain fields visibly uncertain, and lets you edit every imported or recognized detail before it drives an alert.

After a decision, Apple or the merchant remains the authority for billing changes. The tracker should send you to the right place without implying that a cancellation already happened.

Compare pricing only after checking the product boundary

A low price is not meaningful if the product solves a different problem. Compare the complete cost over the period you expect to use it, including annual renewals, one-time purchases, trials, and any feature limits. Confirm that the public price matches the store listing before purchasing.

Foremark plans to cost $14.99 per year or $39.99 as a lifetime purchase, with no monthly plan, introductory trial, or free tier. It uses manual entry or on-device screenshot recognition, stores confirmed records locally, and requires the user to confirm alerts. Foremark is not yet on the App Store, so it should not be treated as an available option today.

Make a small real-world test after launch

Before committing to a tracker, add one Apple-managed subscription, one web-managed subscription, one annual plan, and one trial. Confirm that dates remain readable, currencies are not silently converted, alerts are understandable, and the management destination is correct.

After the test, keep the tracker whose record you trust enough to act on and simple enough to maintain. A longer feature list doesn't settle either question.

Questions, answered

What is the best subscription tracker for iPhone?

There is no universal best tracker. Choose based on whether you need automatic discovery or a private manual record, the data access you accept, the dates and currencies you need, the alert model, and whether the product is currently available.

Is Foremark available on the App Store?

Not yet. Foremark is in prelaunch preview, and its public page will add a verified App Store link only after the listing is live.
