How do you scan a bill and create a reminder on iPhone?

Scan the page that shows the biller, amount, and due date. Check those details against the paper, choose when you want to be reminded, and confirm the final title and date before saving. Handled prepares that workflow on-device, but it never writes a Reminder until you approve the proposed details.

Start with the page that carries the decision

A bill can arrive as one sheet or a thick statement. The useful page is the one that names the biller, states the amount, gives the due date, and explains what action is required. Scan that page first. Extra terms and account history can make a document easier to archive but do not necessarily make the next step clearer.

Flatten the page, use even light, and keep all four edges visible. Apple’s document-scanning guidance describes automatic or manual capture and corner adjustment. A clean capture improves legibility, but the paper remains the source of truth when you review the result.

  • Biller or payee name
  • Amount due and currency
  • Exact due date
  • Account reference or action that will help later

Review the fields before choosing an alert

Handled reads one page on your iPhone and prepares the useful fields. It places anything uncertain into a visible review state instead of silently filling a gap. Compare the amount and date character by character, especially when the page uses small type, a damaged fold, or several dates close together.

The due date answers when the bill is due. Your reminder date answers when you want to act. Those dates can be different. Give yourself enough time for the payment method, mail delivery, or a question that may require support.

Make the reminder say what happens next

A useful reminder names the action and the biller: “Pay Sterling Power bill” is clearer than “Bill due.” Include the due date or amount in notes only when it will help you verify the right account. Avoid copying sensitive information that is unnecessary for the decision.

Apple Reminders supports dates, times, locations, tags, and other details. Handled limits its role to preparing a proposed Reminder from the document fields you reviewed. You see the title, deadline, destination, and timing before anything is written.

  1. Scan the useful page.
  2. Compare the proposed biller, amount, and due date with the paper.
  3. Correct or rescan any uncertain field.
  4. Choose Reminder and set a practical decision time.
  5. Read the final summary and tap Confirm.

Keep the paper until the decision is complete

Handled is a deadline workflow, not proof that a bill was paid. Keep the source page or the biller’s digital statement until the payment, dispute, or response is complete. When the reminder arrives, verify the current balance and payment instructions with the biller before acting.

If a scan is unclear, stop at review. Handled does not auto-confirm a guessed date, and it does not schedule anything in the background. That pause is part of the product: the app reduces retyping while the decision stays with you.

Questions, answered.

Can Handled pay a bill for me?

No. Handled reads the useful page, organizes the deadline, and prepares a reviewed Reminder, Calendar event, or alarm. Payment still happens through the biller or the payment method you choose.

Does Handled create the reminder automatically?

No. Handled shows the proposed title, deadline, destination, and timing. It writes to Reminders only after you review the details and tap Confirm.
